DraftCMD

A SolidWorks add-in for fabricators

Turn a SolidWorks assembly into drawings, nests and a priced quote

DraftCMD runs inside SolidWorks and takes over the repetitive work for sheet metal, plate, tube and structural parts: the drawings, the nesting, and the numbers behind your quote.

  • Works inside SolidWorks
  • Your files stay on your computer
  • Bring your own AI key
A nest report: parts laid out on a 48 by 96 inch steel sheet, with a usable offcut shown in green and a count of every part on the sheet.

Everything between the model and the shop floor

Nest & Quote

From assembly to quote, with the picture to prove it

Open your assembly, press one button, and get a report you can hand to a customer or use to buy material.

  • Flattens bent sheet metal and reads plates straight from their faces
  • Nests on real outlines, with small parts dropping into the holes of bigger ones
  • Packs tube, angle and bar onto your stock lengths with saw cuts allowed for
  • Counts bends, cut length and holes for your cost rates
  • Keeps track of the offcut that goes back to stock
  • Finds purchased hardware, including McMaster-Carr part numbers, and adds it with its own markup
A quote summary: material, offcut credit, cutting, piercing, bending, purchased hardware and markup, with the total at the bottom.
A sample quote summary. Rates and prices are yours to set.

The nest is a quoting estimate that follows your real outlines closely. It is not a replacement for your cutting software.

How it works

Three steps, all inside SolidWorks.

1

Install and activate

Run the installer, paste your activation key, and add your own Anthropic key if you want the AI features.

2

Open your assembly

Pick the DraftCMD tab you need. Nest & Quote reads the open assembly, or a folder of parts, and shows what it found.

3

Review and get your result

Check quantities and prices, press Nest & Quote, and open the PDF report. Drawings save next to your parts.

Built to keep your work yours

What stays on your computer, and what does not.

Your files stay put

Models, drawings and part geometry are read on your PC. DraftCMD does not upload them.

Your AI key stays yours

You use your own Anthropic account. The key is stored encrypted on your computer and is never sent to us.

Help is built in

Send a bug report or a question from inside the panel, and see updates and what changed in each one.

Questions

Straight answers.

What do I need to use it?

A Windows computer with SOLIDWORKS installed and an internet connection for activation and updates. The AI features also need your own Anthropic API key. Drawings, Nest & Quote and part numbers do not.

Which SOLIDWORKS versions work?

[Supported versions to be confirmed before launch.]

Does DraftCMD upload my models or drawings?

No. Your SOLIDWORKS files are processed on your computer. The only things that leave it are your licence check, any support case you choose to send, update checks, and, when you use an AI feature, your request sent directly to Anthropic with your own key.

Is the nest ready to send to the laser?

No. It is a quoting estimate that follows your parts' real outlines to give honest yield, scrap and cost figures. Always verify before you cut or buy.

How are purchased parts priced?

DraftCMD recognises McMaster-Carr part numbers in your assembly and counts them. You enter each price once and it is remembered for next time, because McMaster-Carr does not offer a public price list.

How do updates work?

DraftCMD checks for new versions and shows what changed. You choose when to install, and the installer asks before closing SOLIDWORKS.

How do I get help?

Use the Support button inside the panel to send a bug report, feature request or question. You only see your own cases.
