DraftCMD

Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

DraftCMD is a SolidWorks add-in. In this policy, “we” means the people who make and run DraftCMD. You can reach us at support@draftcmd.com.

This policy explains what DraftCMD and its website and support service collect, why, who receives it, and the choices you have. In short: your SolidWorks files and drawings stay on your computer, and your Anthropic API key never reaches us.

1. What stays on your computer

  • Your SolidWorks models, drawings, parts and assemblies, and the geometry DraftCMD reads from them to make drawings, nests and quotes.
  • Your Anthropic API key, stored encrypted for your Windows account.
  • Your settings, stock sizes, material and hardware prices, saved macros, part-number lists and the quotes you create.
  • Local logs that help diagnose problems. They are not sent to us unless you choose to attach one to a support case.

2. What DraftCMD sends, and to whom

To us and our license provider, to check and manage your license. Your activation key and a one-way identifier of your computer (made from a Windows machine identifier with a one-way hash, so we cannot recover the original). Also license details: status, expiry, plan, trial credits used and how many computers are activated. Our license provider is Keygen (keygen.sh), which processes this data for us.

Free trial sign-up on our website. The name, email address and optional company you enter, used to create your trial license and email you the key and a download link. We keep a record of the sign-up, including a one-way hash of your network address that is used only to limit repeated sign-ups, so one email address gets one trial. The email is sent through Cloudflare.

To our support service: usage counts. DraftCMD counts how often its features are used and whether they finish or fail, such as drawings made, nests run, tabs opened, update checks and errors, along with simple totals such as how many pieces a nest contained. It also reports the DraftCMD, SolidWorks, Windows and WebView2 version numbers, how often and for how long DraftCMD was open, and the one-way computer identifier above. These counts are tied to your license and computer and added up per day. We use them to find problems and decide what to improve.

Only numbers are sent. Never part, file or folder names, drawing or model contents, quote amounts or prices, what you type or ask the AI assistant, company or customer names, or your API key. You can switch usage counts off at any time in Settings > Usage Data. When they are off, nothing is counted or sent, and counts already saved on your computer are deleted.

To our support service: only when you send a case. The title and message you write, your replies, the case type, your DraftCMD and SolidWorks version numbers and a reference to your license. If you tick the box, the last part of the drawing log (up to about 200 lines), which can include part and file names. That box is off by default. Pictures you attach to a case are stored with it.

Profile, backup and macro library. If you create a profile and turn on cloud backup, DraftCMD stores your profile (name, email, company) and a backup of your settings, saved macros and tab layout against your license so you can restore them on another computer. You can turn automatic backup off and ask us to delete the profile and backup. If you send a macro to the library for review, we receive its name, description and code and, if you ask for credit, your name, email and company.

Update checks. When DraftCMD checks for updates it requests the list of versions and release notes. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, sees technical request data such as your IP address. If you download an update, your license key and computer identifier are used to confirm you may download it.

To Anthropic, only when you use an AI feature. What you type, details needed for the request such as the open document’s name, type and file path, and for code generation the related context, generated code and error messages. This is sent from your computer with your own API key, under your own agreement with Anthropic. We do not receive it and cannot see your Anthropic account. Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy apply to that data.

Payments. Right now we issue licenses directly and DraftCMD does not take card payments. If we add an online checkout, a payment provider will collect your payment details and we will not receive or store your card number. We will update this policy first.

Our website. The website has no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. The only form is the free trial sign-up described above. Cloudflare, which hosts it, keeps ordinary request logs.

3. How we use information

To activate and manage licenses and trials, deliver updates, answer support cases and fix bugs, keep the service secure and prevent license abuse, and tell you about your license and important changes. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only the service providers that help us run DraftCMD: Keygen (licenses), Cloudflare (hosting, database and email) and, for AI features, Anthropic, as described above. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights and safety, or if DraftCMD is sold or transferred to someone else.

5. How long we keep it

License and trial records are kept while your license is active and for up to three years afterwards. Support cases are kept for up to three years, or until you ask us to delete them. Usage counts are kept for up to two years. Server request logs are kept for the short periods Cloudflare sets.

6. Security

Connections to our services use encryption. Your license is verified with signed responses. Access to the support admin tools is restricted. Your API key is protected with Windows data protection on your computer. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices

You can deactivate a computer, uninstall DraftCMD, remove your API key in Settings, switch usage counts off in Settings > Usage Data, and choose whether to attach logs to a case. You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to support@draftcmd.com. We will answer within 30 days.

8. Children

DraftCMD is for business use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. Where data is processed

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with its date and, for important changes, tell you in DraftCMD or by email.
