Terms of Use
Effective October 8, 2026
These are the terms for using DraftCMD, a SolidWorks add-in made and run by the DraftCMD team (“we”). By installing or using DraftCMD you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use it. Questions: support@draftcmd.com.
1. Your license
We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use DraftCMD for your own business on the computers your license allows, for as long as your license is valid. DraftCMD is licensed, not sold. It runs inside SolidWorks, so you need your own SolidWorks license.
2. Free trial and early access
A trial lasts 7 days from first activation and includes a shared pool of credits. Actions use different numbers of credits, and a credit is used only when an action succeeds. Drawings made on a trial carry a watermark. DraftCMD is still being developed and improved with early users. Features can change, and a trial or early-access license is provided as is, with no promise of support or uptime. We may change or end trials at any time.
3. Paid licenses
Paid licenses are offered on the plans and prices we agree with you or show on the website. Prices are in US dollars and do not include taxes. Until online checkout is available, we set up licenses directly. Renewal and refund terms are the ones we agree with you in writing when you buy. If you are not sure, ask first. When a paid license ends, DraftCMD may stop making drawings and using other licensed features until it is renewed.
4. Your activation key
Your key is personal to you or your company. Keep it private and do not share it. When you activate, DraftCMD sends your key and a one-way identifier of your computer to our license service. You can deactivate a computer in Settings to move your license.
5. What you may not do
You may not copy, sell, rent, lend or share DraftCMD; reverse engineer it except where the law allows; remove or bypass licensing, credit limits or watermarks; use a key you are not entitled to; use it to build a competing product; or use it for anything unlawful.
6. AI features and your Anthropic account
Some features use the Anthropic API with your own API key. Your use of it is governed by your own agreement with Anthropic, and you pay Anthropic’s charges. We do not receive or store your key. When you use these features, what you type and details needed for the request are sent from your computer directly to Anthropic (see the Privacy Policy).
AI output can be wrong. Generated code runs inside your SolidWorks session with your permissions and can create, change or delete files and geometry. You are responsible for reviewing it, keeping backups and saving your work before running it.
7. Estimates and outputs
Nests, quotes, yields, weights, costs, laser times, bend counts, drawings, part numbers and reports are aids and estimates, not guarantees. They depend on the inputs you enter and how your parts are modeled. The nesting is a quoting estimate, not a production cutting layout. Check every output before you quote, buy material, cut or build anything. You are responsible for your own bids, designs and manufacturing decisions.
8. Your data
You keep all rights in your models, drawings, files, part lists and prices. Your SolidWorks files are processed on your computer, and we do not receive them unless you send something to us, such as a log attached to a support case. You let us process the information you send us (license activations, support cases and usage counts) to run, secure, support and improve DraftCMD, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Updates and support
DraftCMD can check for updates and offer them. We may add, change or remove features. You can send bug reports and requests from inside DraftCMD. We will make a reasonable effort to reply but do not promise a response time or a fix. DraftCMD depends on services we do not control, such as licensing, hosting and Anthropic, so we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free.
10. Names and trademarks
SOLIDWORKS is a registered trademark of Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporation. McMaster-Carr is a trademark of its owner. DraftCMD is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Dassault Systèmes, McMaster-Carr or Anthropic.
11. Feedback
DraftCMD and its code, design and text belong to us. If you give us suggestions, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
12. No warranty and limits on liability
DraftCMD is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or costs from relying on outputs, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for DraftCMD in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you paid nothing). Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Ending
You can stop using DraftCMD at any time by uninstalling it. We can end your license if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 7, 8, 11 and 12) continue after your license ends.
14. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its date. Using DraftCMD after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where DraftCMD is operated, unless your local law requires otherwise.
